NetIP Introduces Charity is Colorblind

Charity is Colorblind (CiC) is NetIP North America’s initiative to raise funds for charitable causes world wide. Each year all NetIP chapters, members, friends and family give wholeheartedly to charity. Not only is charitable giving an emotional giving, it is also one that keeps on giving back. Last year NetIP raised over $120,000 for charitable causes such as for cancer research, microfinance, child rights, and education. With your help, this year we hope to increase that substantially.

The CiC initiative seeks to empower all our chapters for grass roots level fundraising. The NetIP family is working hard to make a difference in the lives of many. Join the cause on facebook today, please take the pledge to invite 300 friends to the cause.

If you are a 501(c)3 and would like to be considered as a charity that the NetIP family donates to, please consider filling out an Alliance Partner application located here.

Global Impact
With its 20th Anniversary, 2010 ushers in NetIP’s renewed efforts in making an impact towards philanthropic endeavors and social responsibility. All our chapters make a concerted effort in giving back to their community with fundraising in support of local and global charities. On a national level, NetIP has supported the Clinton Foundation for Aids in the past and today supports the Grameen Foundation.
NetIP embarked on a culture of Social responsibility by embracing sustainability and working towards reducing our carbon footprint on the planet. In 2010, NetIP will be hosting its first green conference, in Seattle. The conference will be hosted in hotels with Corporate Social Responsibility as well as LEED silver certified rankings. In addition to focusing on paperless technology, local produce and organic foods will be served to delegates. Every facet of the conference will aim to have a green component.

Grameen Foundation

NetIP's South Asia Poverty Alleviation Mission

Grameen Foundation, a global nonprofit organization, helps the world’s poorest people access financial services and technology solutions by providing financing, technology support and management strategies to the local organizations that serve them. It also spearheads technology initiatives that create new microbusiness opportunities for the poor, provide telecommunications access for the world's rural poor, and improve their access to health and agriculture information and other services.

Founded in 1997, Grameen Foundation has offices in Washington, D.C., Seattle, Washington, Hong Kong, Ghana, the Philippines and Uganda. Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the founder of Grameen Bank and the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, is a founding member of its board of directors, and now serves as director emeritus.

Please take the time to make a donation today and be a valuable contributor to our quest to end extreme poverty in South Asia.

Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS initiative

In 2007-2008, NetIP worked to raise money and awareness for the Clinton Foundation initiative for HIV/Aids.
The Initiative aimed to assist countries in implementing large-scale, integrated, care, treatment and prevention programs that will turn the tide on the epidemic.

Dollars for Doers Program

  • Are you a chapter officer or do you volunteer for another charitable organization?
  • Do you work for a large company?

If yes, then you may be eligible to receive funds from your employer to benefit NetIP-NA, your local chapter, or a NetIP philanthropic cause!

What is the Dollars for Doers Program?

The Dollars for Doers is a national program utilized to recognize volunteers in their community. If you volunteer a minimum amount of time with a non-profit or charitable organization, participating employers will complement your volunteer with a grant to a non-profit organization of your choice. For example, if you are serve on the board for your local 501(c)(3) chapter, then your employer will grant up to $500 (per calendar year) to your local chapter. Alternatively, if you volunteer for another community organization (e.g. school or local park), you may still be eligible to grant funds to your local NetIP chapter (based upon your employer's program guidelines). Applications for Dollars for Doers grants will be honored if the request adheres to your employer program’s guidelines.

How can you get involved?
To enroll in the Dollars for Doers program, please contact your employer to determine if they participate in the Dollars for Doers program. Participating companies include (but not limited to):

  • IBM
  • CitiGroup
  • AAA
  • Microsoft
  • Morgan Stanley
  • Bank of America
  • Fannie Mae
  • KPMG
  • Pfizer
  • Cisco Systems
  • World Bank

If your company participates in this program, then you will need to complete an employer-provided application for a volunteer grant and indicate which organization you would like to grant the funds to. Based upon your company’s terms and conditions, you may not be able to allocate funds to an organization that is not a 501(c)(3) non-profit. If you are uncertain of whether your local chapter is a 501(c)(3) organization, please contact your local chapter board or financeadmin@netip.org.

If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Rita Bagai, Communications Chair (rita@netip.org).
